Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister, met Wednesday with Timcho Mucunski, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of North Macedonia.
The meeting focused on the existing bilateral cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and North Macedonia, the development of political dialogue, as well as the expansion of cooperation across economic, trade, energy, and tourism domains.
Emphasizing the importance of further strengthening the ties of friendship and partnership between the two countries, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that reciprocal visits and high-level contacts contribute to the growth of cooperation.
The sides noted the significance of identifying new opportunities for the development of bilateral cooperation and expanding relations in the fields of trade and investment.
The ministers explored opportunities for energy cooperation between the two countries, highlighting Azerbaijan’s contribution to Europe’s energy security both as a supplier and a transit hub. They also pointed out opportunities for boosting cooperation in the field of renewable and alternative energy.
The meeting also addressed issues regarding the potential opportunities for developing cooperation in the sphere of tourism. The parties underscored the importance of joint efforts to promote the rich cultural heritage and tourism potential of both countries.
Minister Bayramov briefed his counterpart about the post-conflict situation in the region, including reconstruction efforts, mine threat, and the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He underlined Azerbaijan’s efforts aimed at establishing peace and security in the region.
The sides also reviewed opportunities for cooperation between Azerbaijan and North Macedonia within international organizations, as well as exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
The meeting with the participation of both ministers, concluded with a signing ceremony of an agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia on exemption from visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and service passports.
