WESTERN AZERBAIJAN COMMUNITY: FRENCH MEP’S STATEMENTS UNDERMINE PEACE PROCESS

“Member of the European Parliament from France, Nathalie Loiseau, who traditionally exhibits a biased attitude against Azerbaijan, made statements in an interview with Armenia’s “Armenpress” media outlet on December 25, 2024, that undermine the peace process and infringes upon human rights,” the Western Azerbaijan Community said in a statement.

“In her interview, while ostensibly trying to show concern for Armenia’s sovereignty, the French politician simultaneously dictates to Armenia – a country she refers to as sovereign – how it should position itself in negotiations with Azerbaijan. Nathalie Loiseau openly demonstrates her true intent to hinder the establishment of lasting peace between the two countries by calling on Armenia to refrain from discussing issues such as the return rights of Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia, and the opening of regional communications.

By making a demand for the release of individuals suspected of committing numerous war crimes and crimes against humanity, including the Khojaly genocide, Nathalie Loiseau further reveals her unlawful approach.

All of this once again proves Nathalie Loiseau’s discrimination, provocation and her opposition to peace. It also highlights how inappropriate it is for her to hold the role of Deputy Chair of the European Parliament’s delegation for relations with the South Caucasus.

The Western Azerbaijan Community condemns Nathalie Loiseau’s statements that oppose the right to return of expelled Azerbaijanis and are against peace,” the Community added.
