Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, met with William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya, in Nairobi.
During the meeting, Leyla Aliyeva conveyed greetings from President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to the Kenyan President.
Discussions focused on the relations between the two countries and potential areas of cooperation with the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, led by Azerbaijan’s First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva. Leyla Aliyeva highlighted the significance of expanding bilateral relations and emphasized the Foundation’s initiative, “Development of Education and Culture in African Countries.” She noted that future projects would cover education, healthcare, environmental protection, climate change, culture, and educational exchange programs. Plans for the collaborative presentation of art pieces in international projects were also discussed.
President Ruto praised Azerbaijan for its successful hosting of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in November. He hailed the dynamic development of friendship and cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kenya.
The Kenyan President underscored the significant potential for developing cooperation and expanding partnership in various areas, including climate action, energy, trade and investments, tourism, and education. He emphasized that projects implemented at the state level and with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, in the areas of education, culture, health, and other humanitarian fields, play a pivotal role in advancing bilateral relations.
On behalf of President Ilham Aliyev, Leyla Aliyeva presented a letter of invitation to President William Samoei Ruto to visit Azerbaijan.
President Ruto expressed his gratitude for the invitation and graciously accepted it.
