NATO DELEGATION VISITS EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS AND MILITARY UNIT

As part of the “15th NATO Days” in Azerbaijan, a NATO delegation led by Rear Admiral Gunnstein Bruåsdal, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Partnerships Directorate at Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), visited military educational institutions and one of the military units.

The delegation first toured the Military Institute named after Heydar Aliyev, where they were briefed on the institute’s activities, educational programs, and international cooperation efforts.

At the War Games Center of the Military Administration Institute of the National Defense University, the delegation observed a training session conducted by NATO’s Mobile Training Team from the Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum under the Individual Partnership Cooperation Programme for 2024.

The visit also included a tour of a military unit of the Azerbaijan Naval Forces, where the guests received a briefing on the unit’s history and operations.

Discussions during the visit focused on the progress of Azerbaijan-NATO relations, reforms within the Azerbaijan Army, and other topics of mutual interest.

The program concluded with the delegation observing combat training sessions by the Maritime Interdiction Operations Boarding Party, a unit declared under NATO’s Operational Capabilities Concept Programme.
