Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov has had a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
During the telephone conversation, the ministers exchanged views on a number of issues related to bilateral and regional agendas as well as the post-conflict situation in the region.
The parties discussed issues arising from the latest meeting held between the co-chairs of the Azerbaijan-Iranian Commission for Economic, Trade, and Humanitarian Cooperation. They hailed the contribution of high-level meetings and ministerial contacts in recent months to the development of bilateral relations.
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian recalled with pleasure his meeting with President Ilham Aliyev during his visit to Azerbaijan to attend the ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement Coordinating Bureau earlier in July.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed his Iranian counterpart of the measures taken by Azerbaijan in the post-conflict period. He also noted that recent claims about the humanitarian situation around the Lachin road and the region are nothing but political manipulation. The FM stressed that the Armenian side must cease provocations in the region and respect Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty in both words and deeds.
The sides also underlined the importance of resolving certain open issues on the bilateral agenda between Azerbaijan and Iran.
