FOREIGN MINISTER JEYHUN BAYRAMOV MEETS WITH US SECRETARY OF STATE ANTONY BLINKEN

During his working visit to the US, Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov has met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Arlington, Foreign Ministry’s press-service reported.

Discussions at the meeting revolved around Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process, prospects for talks concerning a draft bilateral agreement on peace and establishment of interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, present regional situation.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov briefed the US Secretary of State on the Azerbaijan’s position on and approach to the issues related to the draft agreement, Armenia’s attempts to impede the peace process, a number of its provocative attempts. He underlined the importance of avoiding such steps for achieving successful results in the peace process, complete withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from the territory of Azerbaijan and observing territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan in words and deeds.

The bilateral meeting was followed by a trilateral meeting of the Azerbaijani, Armenian Foreign Ministers and US Secretary of State.

This round of talks between the Azerbaijani and Armenian Foreign Ministers on the draft bilateral agreement on peace and establishment of interstate relations is scheduled to continue until June 29.
