AZERBAIJAN`S FM INFORMS WIPO DEPUTY DIRECTOR GENERAL ABOUT ARMENIAN VANDALISM

Azerbaijan`s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov has met with a delegation led by Deputy Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Hasan Kleib.

During the meeting, the sides discussed international partnership in the field of protection of intellectual property, as well as cooperation between Azerbaijan and the WIPO.

Emphasizing the wide cooperation between the relevant authorities of Azerbaijan and the organization, Jeyhun Bayramov highlighted the work done in the country to improve the intellectual property action. The minister also said that during the 30-year occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia, the geographical names were changed, cultural values and objects of cultural heritage were looted or appropriated.

The minister informed the deputy director general of the intensive restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the liberated territories.

Noting the beginning of the process of return of internally displaced persons to their native lands, the FM pointed out that danger of landmines planted by Armenia is the main obstacle to this process.

The WIPO deputy director general hailed the cooperation between Azerbaijan and the organization. He described the activity of Azerbaijan`s Intellectual Property Agency as an example for a number of countries. Hasan Kleib underlined that Azerbaijan made a valuable contribution to international cooperation in this area.

He pointed out that there is a potential for cooperation between Azerbaijan and the organization in the intellectual property education.

The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
