
As part of his working visit to the United Kingdom, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov has held a number of meetings with UK MPs including Alicia Kearns, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee, Stephen Doughty, Member of Parliament (Labour / Coop) for Cardiff S & Penarth, Shadow Minister for Europe, North America, UK Overseas Territories, as well as members of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Azerbaijan.
Lord Evans, Lord Waferley, Baroness Uddin, Lord Hussain, Bob Blackman and David Duguid also attended the meeting.
The sides emphasized the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation and development of partnership relations between the two countries. The meetings focused on prospects for the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and UK, including partnership in the field of energy and alternative energy. There also hailed Azerbaijan’s growing role in Europe’s energy security, as well as in the “Middle Corridor” and transport and transit field.
Jeyhun Bayramov also provided detailed information about the process of normalization of Azerbaijan-Armenia relations in the post-conflict period, the current state of negotiations on the peace agreement, the intensive restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the liberated territories, beginning of the return of internally displaced persons to their native lands.
During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine, regional security issues and other issues of mutual interest.
