SWITZERLAND HOSTS EVENT TO MARK INDEPENDENCE DAY OF AZERBAIJAN

The 105th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s Independence Day was solemnly celebrated in the city of Bern, Switzerland. The event was attended by representatives of the Swiss government, heads of the diplomatic corps, members of Azerbaijani diaspora operating in Switzerland, and representatives of the local community.

The national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as the Swiss Confederation and the Principality of Liechtenstein were played at the opening ceremony.

Addressing the event, head of the Azerbaijani delegation visiting the Swiss Confederation, Azerbaijani Minister of Health Teymur Musayev, spoke of the history of the Independence Day, as well as the difficulties Azerbaijan faced in the first years after regaining its independence, and its further achievements. He underlined that Azerbaijan celebrates 100th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

Azerbaijani ambassador to Switzerland Fuad Isgandarov highlighted Azerbaijan’s worthy place in the international arena, relations and prospects between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Swiss Confederation, as well as the growing role of the country in ensuring energy security for the European region. The ambassador emphasized that National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s wise policy is being successfully continued by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

The event continued with a performance of the Azerbaijani national dances.
